St Michaels Church Womens Institute Group

Another thank you to the people of Coventry for their superb support!

The ladies of St Michaels Church have been long term supporters of ours, which we are very grateful for!

I attended a group meeting, began with a prayer then a discussion regarding the work we do and the services and projects that Coventry Haven provide.

It was great to be asked so many questions and to be able to have the opportunity for the ladies to go back to their parish and church groups, freinds and family to raise awareness of the work we do.

Thank you ladies for the cash donation and the toiletries and hope to see you again soon!

We had a fabulous evening with a wonderful group of ladies; the Rugby Soroptomists, who always offer ongoing support to the women and children we support. On the evening of the 5th September at Brownsover Hall Hotel, Jaime and Rachel were invited to present to the group about our job roles and the work of Coventry Haven and were awarded a £673 cheque to promote the FGM project. Thank you very much!

We also accepted their invitation to present to their regional group and we look forward to that opportunity!

A lovely evening was had by all and thank you again for the meal, your hospitality and the donation.

PRESS RELEASE To Media 23rd August 2017 - CULFC and Coventry Haven

Media release

Coventry United Ladies Football Club announce local partnership

Coventry United Ladies Football Club (CULFC) have recently announced their newest, local partnership with Coventry Haven, which has provided services to Coventry women and children for the past 45 years.

Domestic abuse can be experienced by women irrespective of social, economic or cultural backgrounds and as such can be found in all areas of the community. Through their partnership, CULFC and Coventry Haven hope to improve awareness, education and funding to support this very important work.

Coventry has some of the highest rates of domestic abuse incidences/offences and sexual offences in the whole of the West Midlands. 28% of women have experienced domestic abuse in the UK since the age of 16 years and it is believed that abused women are three times more likely to experience depression and anxiety disorders.

As a football club with a majority of female managers, players and followers, Coventry Haven was identified as an ideal charity partner. The work Coventry Haven does is hugely important to local women and children and as the club builds strong links with the whole community it hopes this partnership will help raise awareness, and promote the safety and empowerment of women and children experiencing any type of abuse. CULFC look forward to working with Coventry Haven and hope to build an extremely positive working partnership, for more information visit www.coventryhaven.co.uk or call 024 7644 4077.

Jade Ogle, CULFC Marketing Director, said:

“CULFC endeavour to support a variety of local charities. Coventry Haven is a really special charity that supports women and their children experiencing all forms of Domestic Abuse, Forced Marriage, Honour Based Abuse and Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). We are really pleased to begin working in partnership with a charity that promotes equality, fairness and respect - all of which are really important aspects to CULFC."

CULFC look forward to welcoming Coventry Haven to our first opening home game on Sunday 27th August 2017 at the Butts Park Arena.
